The former Head of Major Acquisitions at Taylor Woodrow responsible for the group’s largest acquisitions across 5 UK regions as the group simultaneously grew to become the UK’s largest developer of new homes (Taylor Wimpey).

Graham Freeman



Graham has over thirty years’ experience in residential land agency and development within the UK house building sector. His particular skill area is the acquisition and disposal of land, and development land appraisals. He has successfully completed the sale and acquisition of many hundreds of millions of pounds of property, acting on behalf of major land owners. These include public limited companies, private house-builders, Housing Associations, receivers as well as private land owners and Estates. Prior to joining Intelligent Land, Graham was the Divisional Managing Director of one of the UK’s largest residential land agencies.


Mark Sturman



Mark is a Chartered Surveyor with 20 years experience in the UK commercial and residential property sectors.  Mark’s role at Intelligent Land is wide ranging and includes development viability, market research, land agency and housing land supply.  Mark is currently focusing on development viability, where he acts for land owners and developers.  Previously Mark was a Partner at Strutt & Parker where he worked in the London based, retail investment and development team.  Mark has also acted as Asset Manager for a portfolio of retail parks owned by Pillar Properties.

Nigel Jacobs

Director of Operations


Nigel has a successful background in strategic and local planning with an outstanding track record in delivering planning policy. This included both one of the first Core Strategy’s and Community Infrastructure Levy’s in the country when Planning Policy and Implementation Manager at Borough of Poole. He was instrumental in producing the Poole Regeneration Masterplan which delivered the iconic Twin Sails Bridge, a £40m infrastructure project unlocking £500m of investment. He has managed partnerships and relationships across local authorities and has specific skills in finding development opportunities.


Richard Henshaw

Planning Consultant


Richard has provided over 25 years of professional planning advice within the housebuilding, consultancy and local government fields.  He has a pedigree of identifying and promoting strategic land options, as well as providing project management and planning advice for small to complex multi-use schemes. He also has an expertise in S.106 legal negotiations and housing land supply, and has appeared as an expert witness. Richard headed up planning policy and community service at East Dorset District Council, where he was instrumental in delivering a Core Strategy which included major changes to the Green Belt to enable the allocation of strategic housing and employment schemes.  Richard is a keen sportsman, with a particular interest in tennis, where, as well as playing, he oversees the County LTA and is a representative on the National LTA Council.

Mike Hirsh

Planning Consultant


Mike is a consultant with considerable experience in Town Planning and has worked for nearly forty years in private practice and local government. His last post in local government was as the Head of Service for East Dorset District Council with responsibility for Development Management, Building Control and Design and Conservation.

Prior to working for East Dorset Mike was employed in Poole and was involved with many of the major developments when it was one of the fastest expanding areas in the country. Mike’s experience extends not only to direct involvement with many large residential schemes but also to the expansion of industrial commercial and new major shopping developments. He was one of the Dorset planning officers who worked on the Interim Heathland Policy and met representatives of the local development community with officers from Natural England to arrive at an understanding on this issue.

Mike has considerable experience as an expert witness, having given evidence at planning public inquiries including enforcement appeals, and appeared on some of the site specific matters at the last East Dorset Local Plan Inquiry. As a senior officer in local government he has given advice to Planning and Policy Committees and at a variety of public meetings and is used to engaging with the public in a planning context.

Simon Trueick

Associate Director


Simon’s planning career spans 30 years, having worked for several Local Authorities and in the private sector. His last 12 years have been in management roles for a wide range of local authority functions both within and outside areas of professional expertise.

Most recently Simon headed up a joint planning policy team for two authorities – Christchurch Borough Council and East Dorset District Council. In 2014, the two Councils successfully adopted a sound joint Core Strategy – one of the first in the country, and subsequently have embarked on significant local plan reviews. In both cases, Simon lead on identifying and bringing forward new greenfield housing development, including Green Belt release.

Simon’s previous roles in both Development Management and Policy included 11 years with New Forest District Council where he lead the Council’s successful case on a large container port proposal, including managing consultants and two barristers, and giving evidence at a 56-week public inquiry.

Simon is a customer focussed individual who has established an excellent track record of delivery of major projects including local planning documents, major applications and appeals, and key evidence studies. He has direct and long term experience of partnership working in planning and other disciplines. He has considerable expertise in project managing multi-disciplinary teams and specialist consultants to deliver plans and development proposals. Latterly, Simon was member of the LGA Peer Challenge team and has undertaken a number of Peer Reviews in other local authorities.

Janine Drew

Marketing & Media


Janine brings almost two decades of knowledge working in administration roles, both in the public and private sectors.  Much of this experience was gained working as an Office Manager for a property development company, which started her interest in property and development.  Since joining Intelligent Land in July 2014 her passions for photography and design have been fully utilised and her role has grown and developed to incorporate those skills.  Responsible for the redesign of the company website,  Janine continues to ensure strength and continuity in the Intelligent Land brand.
